Position Summary: Boston Universitys Anthropology Department and Archaeology Program seek a Laboratory Coordinator to oversee the safety, compliance, and operations of research and teaching laboratories. This role ensures lab users are trained in safe practices, maintains lab equipment and collections, and supports faculty, staff, and student research activities. The coordinator reports to the Department Administrator and serves as a liaison with BU Facilities Management and Planning. Key Responsibilities: Ensure lab safety and regulatory compliance for chemicals, biological samples, and hazardous materials. Manage laboratory and field equipment, procurement, and vendor relations. Maintain inventories of teaching and research collections, including biological and archaeological samples. Conduct lab trainings and safety orientations for students and staff. Support room and space management, lab maintenance, and departmental events.
Required Skills
Bachelors Degree Required (Biological Anthropology, Archaeological Science, Biology, Chemistry training preferred.) and 1-3 years of relevant work experience. Cover Letter Required.
