Assistant Director, Student Services Graduate and Executive Degree Programs- McDonough School of Business
The Assistant Director of Student Services (ADSS) for Graduate & Executive Degree Programs supports the holistic, co-curricular experience of all McDonough graduate students. As part of the Student Services team, the ADSS develops and manages a range of initiatives, including student clubs, social and networking events, service activities, Student Representative engagement, alumni involvement, and conflict resolution. The role provides guidance on registration, teamwork, faculty interactions, university resources, and both routine and complex student concerns.
Graduate programs for which the ADSS would serve from a Student Services perspective include highly visible and highly ranked degree programs, including, but not limited to, the Executive MBA - DC, the Executive MBA - Dubai, the Master of Art in Management, the Master of Art in Global Real Assets, the Master of Science in Business Analytics, the Executive Master of Art in Leadership, and the Master of Art in International Business and Policy. Working on a highly skilled Student Services team, the work of the ADSS would serve more than 500 graduate students annually.
Ultimately, the ADSS plays a critical role in enhancing student success and engagement by providing academic, personal, and career support to students. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs, advising students, and coordinating various student services to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment, which is an integral component of, if not a competitive advantage for, MSB remaining competitive against peer institutions and programs who attempt to recruit from the same pool of prospective students.
Additional Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide academic advising, career counseling, and personal development support to students.
- Develop and implement programs and workshops that support student success, retention, and well-being.
- Managing & supporting student-led initiatives, for example, Student Clubs, Student Representatives, service projects, and networking/social events, among other projects, for more than seven graduate degree programs and over 500 students annually, and across multiple campuses.
- Liaising with other university departments for problem solving, conflict resolution, and assisting with student requests/processing.
- Traveling with & supporting students at international locations for international program residencies.
- Advising students with degree requirements, faculty engagement, student team dynamics, greater university liaison, and multiple other general student concerns, issues, and problems affecting the student experience.
Work Interactions
The ADSS reports to the Associate Dean of Graduate & Executive Degree Programs and has a dotted line reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Services for Graduate & Executive Degree Programs, who serves as the lead for the Student Services arm of graduate and executive degree program management.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 1 year of program management experience in a professional setting requiring organization of large volumes of data, meeting deadlines, completing projects, and working within a team.
- Must have a strong and effective communication engine capable of handling a large volume of multiple communication tasks simultaneously while delivering accurate, informational, directive, and clear information, both verbally and in writing, to wide range of stakeholders including university colleagues, faculty, executives, vendors, and early- and mid-career professionals.
- Must have a demonstrated, expert use of the Microsoft suite and Google suite of products, with a special focus on MS-WORD, MS-EXCEL, GMAIL, and Google Drive.
- Must be able to understand, work from, and manage simple and sometimes complex financial plans, such as program budgets. Must be able to monitor, manage, and designs large databases, such as student rosters and co-curricular calendars.
- Must be capable of functioning independently and with complete discretion since much of the information related to students, both applicants and degree candidates, is highly confidential and protected by law. Little to no supervision is expected on the vast majority of tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a small team.
- Must be ready and able to travel up to 5% of the year to domestic and international locations to support global programs.
- This position requires commuting back and forth regularly between the Hilltop and Capitol Campuses of Georgetown University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Education and/or training in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field is highly desirable, especially at the Master's level or above.
- Working in a university setting in student affairs, academic advising, or a related area is highly desirable, but not required

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
