Title: Open Rank Clinical Professor and Program Director of Reading and Special Education (Position No. 53616)
The Clinical Faculty member will work closely with the departmental faculty, department chair, staff, students, and the leadership team to enhance the quality and reputation of our academic programs in reading, special education, educational diagnostician, and learning therapy. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator with content knowledge and program management experience. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the quality and integrity of academic programs in the content areas of reading, special education, educational diagnostician, and learning therapy.
- Managing curriculum development, advising students, course scheduling, and new program initiatives.
- Teaching courses and advising students in reading, learning therapy, special education, and/or diagnostician program.
- Supporting accreditation and certification processes
This position requires a 25% administrative commitment, with the remaining 75% devoted to teaching and professional service. Research is also encouraged and may be supported with a decrease in teaching expectations.
Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education, Diagnostics, Educational Psychology, Reading, or Literacy.
Qualifications and Experience: Qualifications include a commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching, and a respect for diversity in higher education and the school and not-for-profit communities we serve. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Reading or a related field (i.e., Diagnostician, Educational Psychology, or Special Education). Requirements for the position include relevant experience teaching in K-12 and higher education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience administering educator programs t. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is an asset.
Additional Training and Certification Preferences: Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), CALT Instructor; Additional International Dyslexia Association qualifications
