About the College
The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and houses the School of Accounting that holds separate AACSB accreditation. The college offers the BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Several formats of the MBA program are offered in fulltime, weekend, and online modalities in Lubbock, the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Houston, and San Antonio. The College offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research and analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. With a faculty of over 140 and a staff that exceeds 80, the college enrolls over 5,800 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students.
About the Department/School/Area
The Finance Area is one of six academic units, serving over 1,400 undergraduate majors. It encompasses the Excellence in Banking Program, offering a certificate in Commercial Banking; the Texas Tech Real Estate Center and Real Estate Program, which provide a certificate in Commercial Real Estate; and additional certificates in Investment Management and Corporate Risk Management & Insurance. With 22 full-time faculty members, the department is dedicated to teaching excellence and advancing high-quality academic research within a collaborative environment. The Finance Area provides outstanding support for faculty research, teaching, and student engagement.
Major/Essential Functions
At Texas Tech University, the Professor of Practice title is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice. Primary responsibilities normally will be to teach in an area of expertise, mentor students in professional and career preparation, and liaise with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program.
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a robust student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with various student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
As a faculty member in the Area of Finance, you will be expected to:
- Teach in-person finance courses at the undergraduate and master's levels in Lubbock, TX. We have an expected need for teaching financial modelling at the undergraduate level.
- Contribute to the research or industry engagement initiatives of the Area of Finance.
- Mentor and actively engage with students pursuing finance certificate programs.
- Support student engagement activities within the Area of Finance
Faculty Qualifications
- PhD in Finance (or closely related field) obtained by first day of employment.
- Academic research program to meet and maintain AACSB qualification standards.
- Dedication to excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Demonstrated ability to teach financial modelling.
- Interest in using artificial intelligence (AI) to solve problems in finance.
- Strong commitment to student engagement and mentorship.
- Established track record of excellence in teaching.
