Performs minor mechanical and/or analytical duties on various projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. About the Department and/or College

Major/Essential Functions

Set up the lab for microbiology classes in the Biological Sciences Department.
Prepare media required for the classes of microbiology.
Prepare items for lab practice such as kits, handouts, and other instructional materials.
Sterilize and discharge used media from the classes of microbiology.
Monitor quantity and condition of existing models and supplies and help provide routine maintenance.
Maintain the laboratories and storage cabinets in a clean and organized manner,.
Cross-train teaching assistants and undergraduate lab assistants on media preparation techniques.
Assist in managing inventory for supplies used in microbiology classes.
Routinely lift 50 pounds or less independently.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
High School or equivalent and two years work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in chemistry, microbiology, and or human medical fields.
Experience and or certification with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and inspection protocols.

Pay Range
$15.14 - $19.71 - $24.23
