About the Department and/or College


Major/Essential Functions
  • Set up the lab for microbiology classes in the Biological Sciences Department.
  • Prepare media required for the classes of microbiology.
  • Prepare items for lab practice such as kits, handouts, and other instructional materials.
  • Sterilize and discharge used media from the classes of microbiology.
  • Monitor quantity and condition of existing models and supplies and help provide routine maintenance.
  • Maintain the laboratories and storage cabinets in a clean and organized manner,.
  • Cross-train teaching assistants and undergraduate lab assistants on media preparation techniques.
  • Assist in managing inventory for supplies used in microbiology classes.
  • Routinely lift 50 pounds or less independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
High School or equivalent and two years work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in chemistry, microbiology, and or human medical fields.
  • Experience and or certification with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and inspection protocols.


Pay Range
$15.14 - $19.71 - $24.23
