Performs minor mechanical and/or analytical duties on various projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained.

About the Department and/or College

Major/Essential Functions
1. Safety & Compliance (Highest Priority)

Comply with all Texas Tech University, Utilities, and EH&S policies and follow safety programs (LOTO, JHA, Confined Space, Hot Work) to protect employees, contractors, and the public.
Consistently use required PPE and maintain a strong safety-first mindset in all work activities.

2. Instrumentation & Control Support

Assist with installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of instrumentation and support troubleshooting of basic control and measurement systems.
Support PLC, SCADA, HMI, and VFD systems through monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and guided programming assistance.

3. Maintenance & Technical Operations

Safely use tools and testing equipment while performing preventive maintenance and assisting with repairs and system improvements.
Maintain maintenance and test equipment (M&TE) in good working condition and report any deficiencies.

4. Documentation & Systems Use

Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals to support maintenance and operational tasks.
Use CMMS to document work orders, maintain calibration records, and ensure accurate equipment documentation.

5. Team Collaboration & Communication

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress, issues, and safety concerns.
Collaborate with operations staff, contractors, and senior technicians to support projects, repairs, and ongoing system needs.

Required Qualifications
High School or equivalent and two years work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certification in instrumentation, electronics, industrial systems, or related field
Exposure to PLCs, SCADA systems, or industrial controls (coursework or internship)
Basic knowledge of industrial controls and troubleshooting
Basic understanding of industrial safety practices

Pay Range
$21.39 - $27.84 - $34.23
