Position Summary
Join a genomics lab building the next generation of tools for reading the epigenome. The laboratory of Dr. William K.M. Lai, in the Department of Biochemistry at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences seeks a Research Technician to perform experimental work under the direction of the principal investigator and to support the research of undergraduate and graduate students. The position is available this Fall and will include molecular biology, chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing library construction. The successful candidate must have experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation, mammalian cell culture, protein synthesis, or basic data analysis is a plus. Duties include planning and performing experiments as well as ordering and general lab maintenance, including maintaining strain, sample and sequencing databases.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires education in Biological Sciences or related topic, and at least one year of experience directly related to molecular biology, chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing library construction.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation and/or basic scripting (Unix command line, R or Python).
Physical Demands
The position requires regular on-site work in a laboratory setting. The majority of the duties involve benchwork, with some computational work. Occasionally, may move or transport boxes and supplies when orders arrive.
Salary Range
$36,000 - $46,000
