Job Summary

 

The Director of Annual Giving provides strategic leadership and oversight for the institution's annual giving program, developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that increase donor participation, strengthen the philanthropic pipeline, and advance institutional priorities. The Director leads a team responsible for multi-channel annual giving initiatives, including annual campaigns, employee giving, giving day efforts, digital fundraising, crowdfunding, and donor engagement strategies, while collaborating with Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement colleagues to maximize impact. This role develops and manages annual giving plans and budgets, aligns fundraising efforts with comprehensive campaign goals, cultivates a culture of philanthropy among internal and external constituencies, and leverages data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate outcomes, identify opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Manage Annual Giving Programs/Campaigns Team          
Provides strategic leadership of the Annual Giving team and collaborates with Alumni Engagement and Major Giving to plan, oversee the execution of, and evaluate integrated annual giving initiatives, including direct mail, email appeals, annual campaigns, crowdfunding, digital fundraising, and other engagement strategies. Drives efforts to strengthen the donor pipeline, increase donor participation, and deepen alumni engagement in support of institutional fundraising goals. Manages digital fundraising platforms in collaboration with Philanthropy and Alumni engagement colleagues.

Day of Giving - Alumni/Community Campaign            
Leads the annual Augusta Gives giving day campaign by developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, collaborating with Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement colleagues to secure sponsors and matching gifts, engaging a broad donor audience, and consistently meeting or exceeding established fundraising goals.

Employee Giving Campaign                       
Leads the annual IGIVE faculty and staff campaign, collaborating with campus partners to develop and implement strategies that effectively communicate the impact of giving and consistently meet or exceed participation and fundraising goals. Fosters and enhances the culture of philanthropy across campus.

Strategic Planning and Budget Management               
Develops and implements the strategic and fiscal plans for the annual giving program, aligning annual fundraising initiatives with the goals of the comprehensive campaign, responsibly managing the program budget, and consistently meeting or exceeding fundraising objectives.

Analytics and Performance Management         
Develops reporting and leverages data analytics to drive strategic decision-making and program planning. Establishes, monitors, and evaluates goals, benchmarks, and year-over-year performance trends across all annual giving programs to measure effectiveness, identify opportunities, and inform continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years documented experience in annual giving or development.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Master's degree from an accredited college or university. 

At least 5 years' experience in annual giving or development. 

Experience with solicitation segmentation strategy is preferred. 

Previous professional experience in a higher education, academic medical center or non-profit organization.

Ability to take initiative, work both independently and collaboratively, and be personally accountable for work. 

Strategic planning, purposeful implementation, and detailed documentation of new ideas and processes. 

Strong communication (oral and written), relationship-building, and active listening skills. 

Ability to develop interpersonal relationships to collaborate effectively with varied constituencies. 

Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills. 

Ability to travel for donor visits and occasional regional PAE events. 

Ability to provide constructive feedback, coaching, and direction as needed. 

 

Shift/Salary/Benefits

 

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: B15

Salary Range: $82,800/annually - $105,600/annually  

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
