Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice (Ambulatory Care - Geriatrics)

The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking applicants for a 12-month tenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy. The expected practice site is the UT Health Geriatrics and Palliative Care Clinic.
Major responsibilities for this position include teaching in the didactic and experiential curriculum, providing a clinical pharmacy service to geriatric patients in the ambulatory care setting, service to the University, and scholarly activities. Official duties and responsibilities of tenure track faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have extensive experience in the management of chronic disease states in the elderly and have the ability to work with students, patients, multidisciplinary providers, and other staff to optimize patient care. Must possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employees shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with 2 years of postgraduate residency training in ambulatory care or geriatrics, or equivalent experience.
Required Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience as a faculty member in a school of pharmacy and clinical experience in ambulatory care with an emphasis in geriatric pharmacotherapy.
Board certification in ambulatory care or geriatrics, ability to communicate in Spanish
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Applicants must be a licensed pharmacist and eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Texas. Applicants will be expected to become a certified preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicants must obtain and maintain credentialing with UT Health.
