Job Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Assistant Director-Clubs & Organizations
Under the guidance of the Director for Student Engagement, the Assistant Director facilitates the planning, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive campus-wide Student Organizations and Leadership program on the EWU campuses.
The Assistant Director is additionally responsible for the general advising, program development and services that support the success of student organizations on the EWU campuses. This position participates in the planning and assessment of the Office of Student Engagement mission and yearly goals.
This position actively collaborates with student leaders, faculty, staff, and Cheney and Spokane community to create positive community relations, leadership opportunities, and evaluation of the student organization community, risk management, and intervention.The Assistant Director holds a full-time, twelve-month, administrative exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Student Engagement. The position requires the ability to work frequent evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Communications, Business, Education or related field.
- Experience working with student activities, student organizations, student union or related areas, such as event planning.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organization, function, and purpose of student organizations and leadership programming.
- Risk management experience and program development.
- High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Education or related field.
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and services for student activities, student organizations, and student leadership programs.
- Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of student programs to include culturally diverse student populations.
- Two (2) or more years of professional staff experience in a higher education field
- Budget management experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and practice.
- Assessment and the development of learning outcomes.
- Experience working with Campus Groups or other student organization software
- Bilingual in Spanish

- Design and implement a programming plan for the EWU campuses for student organizations, under direction of the Director of Student Engagement.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the student organizations on both the Cheney and Spokane campuses.
- Advise registered student organizations.
- Assist with the annual registration process and event approval process for the student organizations.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with ASEWU to address the needs of student organizations in programmatic ways.
- Design and implement Fall Welcome Back events at the EWU campuses, under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement and in partnership with Orientation and Family Programs.
- Engage in regular assessment of the student organization programs and services.
- Design and implement training for the EWU Cheney and Spokane student organizations on university policies, event registration process, event planning and the S&A fee process.
- Review and approve student organization events on the student engagement platform.
- Implement risk management standards for student events at the EWU campuses
- Develop and advise a Spokane student leaders council in partnership with the ASEWU.
- Assist in the development, design and implementation of programs for student organizations on the Cheney and Spokane campuses, such as the monthly student organization meetings and the quarterly student organization fairs.
- Serve as a liaison between the student organizations and the EWU Student Accounting office.
- Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement, plans, administers, and manages the programs operating budget.
- Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement, manages the programs strategic planning process; develop goals, strategic initiatives, and student learning objectives in line with the mission/goals of the division and institution.

Responsibility / Duty: Supervision/Leadership:
- Design, develop and implement comprehensive leadership education programs and professional development programs/events for the EWU campuses to include the development of a yearly lecture/workshop series in collaboration with Student Engagement staff, Career Services and academic departments.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with local organizations (both for profit and nonprofit) to provide professionally related events such as networking, information sessions and volunteer opportunities.
- Supervise front desk student staff.

- Assist with special projects and perform other duties, as assigned.
- Serve as a designee for the Director of Student Engagement, as needed.
- Collaborate with Event Planning and Facilities on-campus event scheduling.
- Oversee planning and implementation of annual Neighbor Festival and Student Leadership Excellence Awards
- Serve on Campus Life and university related committees, as assigned.
- Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of the office and associated campus events.
- Assist with the design and implementation of a marketing plan for events hosted by Student Engagement, including social media outreach, web design and management, and marketing material distribution.

Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment, will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults and children under the age of 16. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check and ability to show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. pursuant to U.S. immigration laws.

Salary Information: The salary for this position is $47,882 (minimum) up to $57,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience and skills.
