Chief of Staff for the Office of the President

About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the President, the Chief of Staff will work alongside University Leadership in a hands-on, executive-level role that is accountable for translating an ambitious strategic vision on behalf of the President and advancing this vision into priorities and new initiatives.

Responsibilities:
The Chief of Staff will possess high-level management skills along with top-level strategic insight and the proven ability to lead the implementation and prioritization of organizational initiatives. To that end, the Chief of Staff will have demonstrated success with defining/leading projects of varying scope and size, in large and complex and decentralized organizations. The Chief of Staff should additionally have experience and aptitude with assessing and curating and translating complex data. The Chief of Staff will lead critical projects from the Office of the President and University Leadership and is accountable for ensuring successful execution.

To maximize decision-making of the President's Cabinet, the Chief of Staff is responsible for creating efficient workflows and implementing clear channels of communication. The Chief of Staff plays a critical role in facilitating communication amongst key stakeholders and promoting and cultivating a sense of shared goals within the President's Cabinet to enhance unity across the university community.

Under the President's purview, the Chief of Staff will serve on committees and project teams and coordinate key matters that require the attention of the Office of the President. The Chief of Staff from time to time, may represent the President and manage high level relationships with key constituencies and act as liaison on issues that may be sensitive in nature. The Chief of Staff will provide oversight of programs and events planned by the Office of the President. Additionally, the Chief of Staff is responsible for managing the Office of the President.

Qualifications:
Progressively responsible leadership experiences in industry, higher education, not-for-profit, or research setting is required. Demonstrated ability to manage projects in large and decentralized organizations with a high degree of complexity. Exceptional multitasking skills, as well as agility in thinking and action. Must possess excellent communication skills with ability to translate ideas in writing. Demonstrated proficiency in curating and translating and reporting out on complex data. Comfort working with executive leaders, internally and externally, and demonstrated ability to be diplomatic in complex settings with multiple constituents. Superb interpersonal skills required to establish close relationships and build trust with key influencers around campus. Ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

- 10 year of administrative leadership experience, including 5 years of experience working with executive-level leaders and leaders at all levels.

- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on project management leadership experience; ideally in large, complex and decentralized organizations with proven ability to advance and prioritize work.

- Advanced degree strongly preferred.
