Job Summary
The Functional Neuroimaging, Cognitive and Mobility Laboratory (http://pdresearch.rad.med.umich.edu/) in the Department of Radiology has an open position available for a highly motivated Database Analyst/Programmer Intermediate (Data Manager). The laboratory is directed by Drs. Bohnen (Director) and Muller (Co-Director) and is specialized in neuroimaging and behavioral assessments of Parkinson's disease. We have developed a LORIS-based database that holds all the intersecting and unique data of our research projects. Data types include neuroimaging data, neuropsychological and neurobehavioral data, and mobility assessment data. Over the last 12 years we have enrolled over 650 unique participants, many of who participate in longitudinal assessments. The primary responsibility of the Data Manager is to manage, in collaboration with faculty and other staff, the flow of data using complex relational databases.

Responsibilities*
  • Provide performance improvement and increased functionality of the existing research database application.
  • Design, develop, and implement new database applications to accommodate research data.
  • Ensure that database applications are encrypted and secured and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of imaging and mobility analysis processing pipeline routines.
  • Create/design and run database reports based on end-user needs and assists in statistical analysis of collected data.
  • Monitor integrity of data collection and perform (automated) data quality assurance checks.
  • Contribute to developing new methods for data collection and instruments.
  • Assist with writing manuscripts, project reports, and grant applications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in computer science, biostatistics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience using Linux operating system.
  • Experience with writing code (in particular Python) to design and maintain programs/database.
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g. SQL).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking and security.
  • Knowledge of multiple statistical software packages (e.g. STATA, R, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with neuroimaging data.
  • A portfolio of programming examples may be requested.
