Job Summary: | We are recruiting for the role of Development Writer at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Development Writer works on a wide variety of projects simultaneously under tight deadlines with members of the advancement office, and with the communications team in particular. This position will contribute to and collaborate on a range of creative projects, specifically using writing skills to create gift proposals and templates, stewardship impact reports, one-pagers, publications, brochures, newsletters, event collateral, scripting and talking points, web content, mass email communications, acknowledgement letters, and other print and electronic materials for internal and external audiences. They will support advancement colleagues in content creation for fundraising, events, stewardship, the grateful patient program, alumni efforts, campaigns and related areas. The ideal candidate will thrive on creative collaboration, working closely with graphic designers to bring complex ideas to fruition as compelling cases for support. They will attend project launch meetings to gather information, identify additional source material needed, and ask thoughtful questions all in the interest of creating the best end product possible within the timeframe and resources allocated. An inquisitive nature and customer service approach to work will add to the Development Writer's success. Candidates with a keen eye for detail, impeccable editing skills and an interest in creative brainstorming to strategize with a group will be prioritized. Additionally, the Development Writer will partner with development staff, faculty, campus leadership, and others on best practices for outreach to a variety of audiences including alumni, benefactors, grateful patients, faculty, staff, students, committee and board members, and more. Deciphering between the needs of different audiences and styles of advancement messaging – from mass communications to tailored pieces – will be required for this position. The Development Writer will thrive on building and sustaining partnerships, and tackling complex projects simultaneously while quickly and decisively determining a project's direction and intended outcomes. Entry Professional: The entry-level will perform duties alongside other professionals and with direct supervision. Intermediate Professional: The intermediate level will perform duties with guidance from the supervisor and independently. |
Work Location: | Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of #1-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. |

Anticipated Pay Range: | The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is as follows: Entry Level: $56,000 - $60,000. Intermediate Level: $60,000 - $63,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
