The Engineering Research Technician will support the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) faculty and graduate teaching assistants in delivery of the laboratory components of CEE courses; maintain equipment in the teaching laboratories; support faculty in their research mission; assist and mentor students in the annual design competitions; oversee the training and safe use of all department equipment and facilities; and manage and maintain all CEE Teaching Laboratories and the CEE shop space.
Associate degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Experience with metal, woodworking, basic wiring, and plumbing
Experience in using a variety of materials to fabricate and repair parts and equipment
Experience using basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program
A commitment to working with faculty and students in accomplishing research and educational goals and supporting work by students participating in annual design competitions
Ability and interest in teaching and mentoring students in laboratory classes
Knowledge of the operation, safe use and maintenance of engineering laboratory equipment
Experience working with data acquisition systems for small-scale testing
Ability to read and apply electronic drawings, diagrams, schematics, shop drawings, and repair and service manuals to build, install or repair laboratory equipment
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to: Bend stoop and lift and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 pounds overhead
