Job Summary/Basic Function:
Job Summary: The Executive Director, Campus Operations (Exec Dir) reports to the Vice President, Finance and Operations and leads a team of approximately 15 staff. The Campus Services team has responsibility for supporting campus operations through a variety of services, including parking, post office, property surplus, materials management/warehouse, campus events, insurance management, real estate, sustainability, facility use, contracts, management of contracted vendor relationships for food service and bookstore operations, and other support services/units as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:
The Executive Director, Campus Operations will proactively address the following opportunities and goals:
  • Lead with Vision. The Exec Dir will provide strategic and organizational guidance to senior leaders on issues related to their assigned operations. The Exec Dir will evaluate and update the current Campus Operations policies and procedures and implement best practices while looking to future trends;
  • Collaborative partner. The Exec Dir will build foster relationships and creativity across organizations and departments;
  • Guide employee development and planning. The Exec will be a future-focused and hands-on leader while building capacity among managers and supervisors, both long standing and new. The Exec Dir will partner and advise leaders on responsibilities and units under their supervision;
  • Develop and lead a strong Campus Services team. Under the Exec Dir, Campus Operations will offer the highest level of integrity and service to a relationship driven workforce while continuing to improve Campus Services policy, programs, and practices that meet the evolving support needs of the institution. The Exec Dir will plan, implement, administer, monitor and evaluate the specific functions, programs and services of the Campus Operations department, while focusing on outcomes, sustainability, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness of services;
  • Overhaul Campus Services systems and processes while implementing best practices. The Exec Dir will leverage data and innovative systems to build a culture that drives operational efficiency and optimizes the use of technology, timely reporting and data analysis to present actionable intelligence for the department and the University;
  • Lead support operations. The Exec Dir will provide leadership and be accountable for the performance of all assigned services, programs, and other functions within Campus Operations whether technical, financial, or human resource related. The Exec Dir will coordinate joint efforts of units under their management and across campus. The Exec Dir will ensure the University follows state and federal regulation and advise leadership across the University on new and existing policies, laws, and regulations;
  • Build community. The Exec Dir will research, recommend, develop, implement, and administer University-sponsored activities to build a sense of teamwork and community within their units, the Finance and Operations Division, and Lamar University;
  • Align with Lamar's mission. The Exec Dir will lead organizational initiatives that align with the University's mission and goals working collaboratively with all colleges, divisions, and departments.

    The successful candidate is a strategic and process-oriented individual and collaborator, that will translate Lamar's strategic vision into forward-thinking operational plans.

    Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to needs of the university.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    Minimum Education Required: A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS business management or related field preferred.

    Minimum Experience Required: A minimum of 7 years of business management/operations management experience, with at least two years of leadership/supervisory experience.
