Job Summary
The Office of Sponsored Projects is looking for a dynamic, motivated, highly organized individual to join our team as a Grant Coordinator 2 or 3. This position will have a meaningful impact on faculty, staff, and the development of our Office, and have the opportunity for significant professional development and career advancement within our Office. This position is currently eligible for telecommuting work for Utah residents; the work schedule is required to primarily overlap normal college core hours. The Grant Coordinator 2 or 3 is a key position in the Office of Sponsored Projects team and will play a crucial role in creating a culture of excellence in grant administration. The Coordinator, in collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director and OSP team, is essential in providing sponsored project support to faculty and staff throughout the grant life cycle. The Coordinator's primary responsibilities include research compliance support, document, data and program management, and pre and post award support.

The Grant Coordinator 3 will demonstrate an advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs; have project management experience; and a history of working with little supervision to complete complex tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage OSP procedures
  • Support the proposal development and submission process including proposal review and formatting, document preparation, Cayuse support, solicitation review, activity coordination, and other functions.
  • Research and disseminate funding opportunities, determine alignment with College priorities and assigned areas
  • Develop and manage funding forecasts
  • Coordinate signatures, maintain databases, file documents, and manage records.
  • Assist in preparing and disseminating sponsored project reports; develop and disseminate other reports
  • Manage the Research Grant and Development Program with assistance from OSP Leadership
  • Coordinate press releases and publicity for sponsored project awards made to SLCC
  • Help ensure overall research compliance by monitoring compliance with federal requirements, such as but not limited to IRB training and application submission for all proposal submissions; tracking compliance information in OSP and college systems; developing resources to strengthen compliance, and identifying and addressing compliance issues;
  • Contribute to the development and revision of templates, documents, and guidelines
  • Effectively use electronic research administration systems, and grants and project management tools
    The Grant Coordinator 3 will perform complex assignments applying advanced procedural knowledge to fulfill tasks with minimal supervision, using professional judgment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Strong preference is given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Two or more years of experience in a research administration setting
  • Experience with a variety of federal sponsors
  • Compliance management or quality assurance experience

    Minimum qualifications
    Grant Coordinator 2
    Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience with at least one of those years in a setting with skills transferrable to this position; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and six years of experience with at least one of those years in a setting with skills transferrable to this position
  • Part-time experience may be considered on a pro-rated basis.

    Grant Coordinator 3
    Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4 years of experience with at least one of those years in a setting with skills transferrable to this position; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and 8 years of experience with at least one of those years in a setting with skills transferrable to this position
  • Part-time experience may be considered on a pro-rated basis.

    Knowledge Skills and abilities
  • Knowledge of the grant life cycle including pre-award process, submission process, and the post-award process.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and stay current on federal, state and college processes, procedures, and regulations, including IRB, grant, and contract terminology.
  • Ability to create and edit complex documents and reports using advanced MS Office and Adobe Acrobat functions
  • Ability to manage numerous complex tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team
