Position Information
Dr. Diamond Bravo in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside is seeking a FT Research Technician (i.e., lab manager/coordinator) beginning July 2019.

The initial appointment will be for one academic year, with the possibility to extend for an additional year based on performance and available funding. Some international travel may be required. The lab manager/research technician will work under the supervision of the PI to set up a new lab at UCR, and manage new and existing studies investigating how intersecting identities (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national identity) relate to policy, motivational processes, health, and development for youth and young adults, particularly Latinx/Hispanic populations. This is an ideal position for individuals who wish to pursue graduate work in human development, education, family studies, and/ or psychology. If interested, they would also have an opportunity to co-author conference posters and/or publications that will be submitted to peer-reviewed scholarly journals.

References will be asked to address applicant's research experience, organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and experience working with ethnic-racial minority youth or within international contexts.


Minimum Requirements
1. Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and three years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and two years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

2. Advanced Spanish reading, writing, speaking skills.

3. At least one-year prior research experience in psychology, human development, sociology, adolescent development research, or international research methodology.

4. Must have strong computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, Powerpoint), and familiarity with qualitative (e.g., NVivo) and statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS).

5. Strong leadership, organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, human development, sociology, or a related discipline is highly preferred.

2. Experience with racial and/or ethnic minority youth/families, international, or community-based research.

3. Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and collaboratively.

4. Programming skills in Qualtrics.

5. Experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data, particularly as it relates to motivation, education, and identity.

6. Experience publishing peer reviewed journal articles.

7. Willingness to learn U.S. foreign policy regarding Caribbean relations (e.g., trade, immigration).

8. Strong public speaking skills.
