The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a Manager of Alumni & Business Development (Full-time, Exempt) in Graduate & Executive Education. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, this position will play a critical role in connecting key constituents and driving engagement that will enhance our program's reputation and value. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, leading engagement efforts with external and internal partners for the Office of Graduate and Executive Education through building a strong network of supporters, strategic communications, signature events, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities
  • Strategic Engagement
    • Develop and cultivate relationships across employer partners and alumni to forge new pathways to engage with professional development, recruitment, and hiring of graduate business program students.
    • Leverage alumni and business partner interests and expertise to build out and support curricular and co-curricular programming.
    • Recommend, design, launch and manage programs that strengthen the professional network and development of alumni and students, such as leadership workshops, mentorship programs, networking events, career coaching, and industry-specific training.
    • Contribute to partnership plan consultation, recruitment and hiring efforts for incoming and established corporate partners through information sharing, resource provision, recruitment event coordination and other identified areas.
    • Foster relationships with alumni to encourage participation in events, giving and other volunteer opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Expansion of Services
    • Interface across departments within the Haslam College of Business and the UT community, including Graduate and Executive Education programs, Collaborative Career Collective, UT Foundation, to increase knowledge of alumni engagement and employer relations information, resources, and opportunities to partner.
    • Partner with faculty and other departments to integrate alumni and employer engagement into the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
    • Lead strategic initiatives examples including CRM development, internal alumni engagement committee, expansion of career resources to alumni population, assessments, continuous improvement process.
  • Communications
    • Serve as the central communication hub between Alumni Engagement and Career Management, cross-promoting initiatives with a variety of audiences through established communications and platforms.
    • Design collaborative pre-event/post event communications, synthesizing message content and calls-to-action from multiple areas and departments.
    • Oversee marketing materials and communication campaigns to promote alumni engagement and employer relations initiatives and events.
    • Create and implement communication strategies to keep alumni and employer partners informed and engaged, utilizing social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms with the opportunity to grow support to graduate business programs.
    • Lead and coordinate video projects that meet the needs of multiple audiences: prospective and admitted students, alumni, employers, etc. (e.g. alumni testimonials, alumni welcome to admitted students, etc.)
  • Signature Events
    • Oversee planning, event coordination, program design, marketing, and setup related to alumni and employer events such as MBA Advisory Council meetings, Career Leadership Day, Fall Graduate Career Mixer and Expo, Networking receptions, panels, and student-facing engagement opportunities.
    • Manage budgets related to alumni engagement and employer relations activities, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Design and implement a career and alumni events model with the insights of strategic partners - connecting with alumni and employer partners (current and prospective) in key cities like: Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, Chattanooga, etc.
    • Lead the planning efforts, program design, marketing, and implementation for special events such as program anniversaries, tailgates, receptions, etc.
  • Data & Continuous Improvement
    • Track and analyze Alumni and Employer Engagement data, develop consistent reporting, steward relationships.
      • Monthly snapshot report for Careers
      • Ongoing alumni engagement spreadsheet + report
      • Highlight key metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvements.
    • Stay informed about best practices and trends in alumni engagement and employer relations, applying this knowledge to continuously improve programs and initiatives.
    • Solicit feedback from alumni, employers, and students to refine and enhance the effectiveness of engagement strategies.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Communications, Higher Ed Administration, HR, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in alumni engagement, student services, career services/employer relations, business development, marketing, or communications


Desired Qualifications and Experience:
  • Master's degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Communications, Higher Ed Administration, or HR
  • More than 5 years of experience in alumni engagement, student services, career services/employer relations, business development, marketing, or communications
