The Marketing and Editorial Manager is responsible for the development and creation of engaging content to support enrollment marketing and enhance the reputation and brand awareness of the University. The Marketing and Editorial Manager will write, edit, and proofread a wide range of print and digital communications, including enrollment marketing brochures, viewbooks, programs, flyers, website content, emails, and alumni magazine articles and sections with guidance and oversight from the Director Communications and Digital Engagement.
Part of the Marketing and Communications editorial team, the Marketing and Editorial Manager will work closely with the production, design, and marketing/account management groups and various other University departments, and ensure all editorial communications comply with University style and standards and support University goals. The right candidate will be responsible for digesting inbound creative briefs, supporting and motivating a small team of marketing writers/editors, and coordinating internal resources to make certain all objectives are achieved on time and on budget. This Marketing and Editorial Manager will also ensure the finished product captures Pace University's voice for each audience group, offers unique perspectives to emphasize key messaging points, achieves the goal of the piece overall, and supports the team's overarching communications strategy.
Whether it's an email to prospective students, an invite for an open house, or a brochure highlighting a new academic program, the Marketing and Editorial Manager understands the importance of each piece and is committed to producing high-quality copy that supports the University's goals.
PRIMARY POSITION DUTIES:
- Serve as the primary writer and editor for high-importance enrollment marketing and recruitment materials (viewbooks, brochures, direct mail, fact sheets, postcards, programs, emails, digital advertising, etc.)
Write and edit academic program pages, Life on Campus, Career Preparation, etc.
Work with enrollment and editorial team to align messaging across all print enrollment materials and digital content.
Assist in the creation of innovative and compelling marketing campaigns that will drive enrollment.
Assist in the generation of story ideas for website and publications and research, conduct interviews, and write assigned articles.
Work with writers/editors within the Marketing and Communications editorial team to ensure consistency across all written materials, oversee fact-checking, and style compliance.
Become familiar with key branding and marketing messages and write and edit copy to reflect those messages for print and digital.
Proofread, cross-check, and approve copy in layout; transcribe client changes to proofs.
Work collaboratively with department editors, designers, production, marketing, and account management to see projects from concept to completion.
Research and develop content for digital and print publications and newsletters as needed.
Performs other such duties as assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in communications, advertising, copywriting/editing, marketing, or a related field. Experience in all phases of the editorial process including writing, proofreading, and editing is required.
Proven ability to drive, manage and execute high-quality editorial content.
Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively and balance multiple, disparate workstreams.
Demonstrated compelling and versatile copywriting and editing (print and digital).
Understanding of best practices pertaining to content strategy, web writing, SEO, and accessibility.
Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition and an expert in best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively multitask projects of varying size and complexity and oversee their completion from conception.
Flexibility to evolving responsibilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with content management systems and email marketing software a plus.
WORK HOURS:
Monday through Friday; 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as needed
