Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Support Services (SSS-TRIO), the Web, Communications, and Events Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing promotional and marketing campaigns for all unit-sponsored services, programs and events. In addition, the Specialist drafts newsletters and other strategic communications to students and the campus community; collaborates with the Associate Director and Vandal Success Strategic Initiatives to develop and maintain content on the unit and department website and social media sites; and assists in designing and creating promotional materials. The specialist is also responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all SSS-TRIO events, including assisting with events and activities associated with the SSS-TRIO Peer Mentor Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience in public relations, marketing, event planning, or advertising
  • Experience designing marketing/promotional material using desktop publishing software
  • Experience with web page development and maintenance
  • Experience with using social media to promote and increase awareness





Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field



Experience:
  • Past experience with assessment of outcomes
  • Past event planning experience
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team environment

Skills/Ability to:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and editing skills
  • Ability to professionally represent the Vandal Success department and UAS/ASP units

  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 30 pounds regularly/occasionally
