About the Opportunity:
This position will help shape CATLR's strategic engagement with faculty and staff to develop a formative assessment culture throughout the university. This will involve collaborating with individual educators, curricular and co-curricular units, and other university stakeholders to design meaningful assessments across multiple learning environments to ensure that the assessment results inform improvements to advance learning.

Responsibilities:
The position will require use of traditional quantitative and qualitative methods as well as innovative approaches (e.g., creative mixed-methods and use of analytics) to assess learning and success. The scope of this work will include on-ground, online, and hybrid modalities as well an array of different durations. This work will cross disciplinary and national boundaries, engaging Northeastern educators and units across a global university system.

Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in education or other relevant field involving analytical practices
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, at least 4 of which are in educational development, including faculty and/or graduate student consultation
  • Evidence of substantial and effective teaching experience in higher education
  • Foundational knowledge of the learning sciences as well as the use of technology to promote learning, teaching, and assessment in a range of modalities (e.g., on-site, online, hybrid, synchronous and asynchronous
  • At least 4 years experience in educational development, including faculty and/or graduate student consultation
  • Ability to design research studies using quantitative and qualitative research methods; projects range in scope and require a creative toolbox of data collection methods (e.g., conducting a deep-dive into scaffolding experiential learning, assessing the impact of a university-wide learning initiative on multiple nested populations)
  • Ability to implement research studies, analyze data, present results to multiple audiences (e.g., executive report, white paper, dashboards), and discuss study limitations

Proficiency with:
  • Data analysis software such as SPSS (or other statistical software such as STATA, R, and SAS) and NVivo
  • Survey distribution software such as Qualtrics
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with faculty across a variety of disciplines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within work teams and across units
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and other media
  • A record of excellence in the design, facilitation, and assessment of workshops varying in format and length
  • Successful history of presentations and service at the national level, ideally with peer-reviewed publications (e.g., publication in refereed publications, conference presentations, service on editorial boards, manuscript review for journals)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, including the ability to craft high-quality presentations, handouts, and other materials
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high level of discretion and independent judgment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of using learning analytics, educational data, data mining, and evidence-centered design to inform assessment processes and data
  • Proficiency with FileMaker as a tool to manage existing databases and/or ability to create new databases to facilitate ongoing research and assessment
  • Proficiency with data visualization methods and tools such as Tableau
  • Grant writing and management experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience with data science, specifically use of data analytics to inform institutional decisions
  • Experience working with various individuals and groups within an institution of higher education to design research studies
  • Deep knowledge of learning sciences and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
  • Interest in pursuing and supporting grant research into innovative educational models and practices, aligned with strategic priorities
  • Background in and/or experience working with educators in STEM disciplines
  • Expertise in fostering inclusivity and inclusive action practices in higher education
