Naropa University, a private institution located in Boulder Colorado, offers an opportunity for a skilled and experienced advancement professional to lead an established fundraising function and an ongoing capital campaign for a truly unique institution. The University seeks an experienced leader with a firm understanding of the components of advancement in a complex institution, combined with the skills to make a passionate and articulate case for support of the institution. Key qualities possessed by the new Vice President will include a collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership, a personal commitment to the mission and vision of the University, a strong team orientation, sound fiscal and personnel management skills, and the personality and integrity to partner closely with the President of the University in his advancement and donor relations responsibilities.

Naropa University is the only post-secondary institution in the nation that grounds the student experience in contemplative education principles. Drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions and combining rigorous academics with contemplative practice and experiential learning, the University recognizes the inherent goodness and wisdom of each human being. It educates the whole person, cultivating academic excellence and contemplative insight in order to infuse knowledge with wisdom. The University, while Buddhist-inspired, is ecumenical, non-sectarian, and values ethnic and cultural diversity. A "College of Distinction" for its sixth straight year, Naropa offers ten undergraduate majors and eight post-graduate programs as well as distance learning opportunities. An academic staff of more than 160 serve a campus-based student population of more than 1,000 with curricula some of which are unique to the institution. Naropa is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is the first Buddhist-inspired academic institution to receive United States regional accreditation.

Naropa's advancement functions have included in the past, the annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major giving, restricted giving, planned giving, crowdfunding and online donation, and dedicated funds for scholarships and special projects. The University is currently in its second capital campaign, undertaken as a part of its 2016-2020 "Naropa Now & Next" strategic plan for development. There are nearly 8,000 alumni or record.
