Hiring Department: Academic Advising Department - West Charleston & NLV Campus
For Semester/Term: Fall 2021
What We Do
The Academic Advising Department is your partner in Academic success. Academic Advisors help you understand your degree plan, make recommendations on course selection each semester, and help you stay on track as you work towards your educational goals. Our Services Benefit CSN Students and Staff.
Position Description
- Aid in administrative functions and general office duties. Communicate with students by answering questions and explaining Advising Department policies and procedures.
- Answer telephones and assist students with making appointments over the phone and in-person.
- Student outreach and database management.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Work Experience in our Department supports the following Degree/Certificate Programs:
- All degrees and/or certificates that result in employment that requires customer service and office skills. Our services benefit CSN students and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of front office procedures and office equipment.
- Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse staff and other students.
- Willingness to learn new processes and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Must have professional demeanor, self-motivated, and flexible.
- Knowledge of GoCSN is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong keyboarding skills
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to use good judgement.

Offer and acceptance of a Work Study Award are not a guarantee of employment. Wages under this position are paid from Work Study awards administered by the CSN Financial Aid Department. To maintain eligibility, students must
- Show a financial aid eligible major (degree or certificate program) declared with the CSN Office of the Registrar, and
- Meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress after each semester/term to qualify for employment within the academic year, and
- Show degree compliant enrollment for each semester/term for which funding is desired.
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credits and meet additional eligibility requirements of the Silver State Regents Service Program for summer semester/term employment.
