Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision of the Custodial Services Manager, the custodian shall clean and maintain the interior
areas of campus buildings to established standards of hygiene. This position requires continuous movement and
mobility. Reasonable accommodations will be made to facilitate the performance of this work by persons with
physical or mental impairments. This position is included in the SCU Maintenance bargaining unit. Union
membership is a condition of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
floors. Vacuum carpets (using vacuum that weighs about 17 lbs.). Spot clean soiled areas on carpets
using chemicals appropriate to the stain.
paint, oil, gum, food and other stains from floors, carpets, fabrics and other building surfaces.
soiled areas using chemicals appropriate for the stain
specified cleaners, wipe down surfaces. Spot cleaning soiled areas using chemicals appropriate for the
stain - Waste receptacles: Empty waste receptacles and dispose of trash; recycle cans, glass and paper,
breakdown boxes.
commodes, showers and bathtubs

clean designated areas during any one shift.
Other Duties
services such as: cleaning common areas, cleaning residential rooms, units or apartments during the
summer and as requested.
restroom cleaning, waste removal and supply refreshing
ground utilizing extending tools to 9 feet, detail cleaning, residential cleaning or other assigned
projects
services out of routine schedules.
Qualifications:
pushing/pulling up to the specified weight limit.
weight limit especially in classroom, conference rooms, corridors and other flexible spaces to ensure
cleaning is completed.

This mobile position requires virtually continuous motion during five eight (8)-hour shifts per week, with two
