Position Announcement


Utah Valley University is seeking a BI Analyst III to join its Business Intelligence and Reporting Services (BIRS) team. As a vital member of this team, the BI Analyst III plays a key role in advancing data-informed decision-making across the university. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningful insights through data analysis, visualization, and reporting that directly impact strategic planning and operational effectiveness. Working in collaboration with university leaders, faculty, and staff, the Analyst helps translate complex data into actionable information that supports compliance, institutional goals, and continuous improvement.

This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented, analytical thinker who enjoys problem-solving and values collaboration in a dynamic academic environment. The BI Analyst III will have the chance to work on diverse projects, strengthen cross-campus partnerships, and help shape the future of the university through evidence-based insights and solutions.
This is a hybrid eligible position, and as such, requires the incumbent to work in-office a minimum of two (2) days per week. Relocation expenses will not be authorized.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Project Leadership/Stakeholder Management: Provides project leadership and support as directed for data requests and reporting. Assist data consumers in formulating requests and answering data questions, using a variety of tools and systems, including third party data sources and integrated analytic systems.
  • Analysis: Coordinates with BIRS leadership in the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into institutional performance. Produce actionable reports, dashboards, and visualizations that show key performance indicators KPIs, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.
  • Reporting and tools: Provide reporting solutions and respond to ad-hoc report requests across multiple business areas. Participate in the design and development of business intelligence reporting tools used by Academic Affairs.
  • Train and mentor junior analysts on data analysis techniques, data visualization tools, and best practices for data management and governance. Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in data analysis, data management, data visualization, and storytelling with data.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and one year of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling five years. Related degrees might include: Administration (Educational, Public, or Business), Behavioral Science, Research/Evaluation, Information Systems, etc..
