General Position Description:
Responsible for coordinating and/or supporting Student Development Department activities and programs in support of the department's core components of Leadership, Education, Community Involvement and Personal Engagement.

Salary Range: $37,265 per year

Essential Job Functions:
1. Coordinates and supports one or more Student Development programs, including: Valencia Volunteers; Inter-Club Council; Student Government; Welcome Team and/or Wellness Ambassadors.
2. Maintains appropriate communications with students, staff, appropriate program participants and related internal/external groups dependent upon the assigned program(s).
3. Conducts appropriate screening, interviews and referral processes dependent upon the assigned program(s).
4. Contacts and develops databases of agencies and program participants as necessary.
5. Organizes events or activities that support the assigned program(s).
6. Creates systems to maintain and document program involvement.
7. Recruits/advises students on volunteer opportunities that are offered through Student Development programming.
8. Prepares materials to publicize, support program.
9. Plans and executes orientation and training for program participants.
10. Conducts presentations to Student Success classes on Student Development programming, services and activities.
11. Collects and manages feedback from students, staff, faculty and community partners.
12. Prepares reports as needed or as directed.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software.

Ability to apply a professional demeanor and good judgment when relating to students, staff and host agencies.

Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and lift/carry items up to 20 lbs.

Ability to work effective in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

General Working Conditions:
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
