Job Summary

The Educational Program Specialist (Limited - Term) position is a unique opportunity for school counseling interns to gain hands-on experience in Richmond County Schools while receiving financial support. This role allows interns to develop and refine their skills as mental health professionals in training by directly engaging with students, staff, and school communities.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:



INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING: Support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.

SMALL GROUP COUNSELING: Facilitate small group counseling sessions targeting specific student needs (e.g., social skills, coping strategies, academic success

CLASSROOM CURRICULUM: Develop and implement classroom curriculum lessons focused on social-emotional learning, college and career readiness, and personal development.

SCHOOL-WIDE PROGRAMMING: Support and lead school-wide programming initiatives, such as mental health awareness events, college and career activities, and positive behavior interventions

MAINTAIN DOCUMENTATION: Maintain appropriate documentation and adhere to ethical and professional standards in school counseling practice

STUDENT SUCCESS: Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and families to promote student success

OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an Augusta University graduate program in School Counseling (or a related field).

Required Experience
Must be completing a school counseling internship as part of program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a school setting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of advertising theories and practices helps students achieve success. Continual and engaging demeanor to encourage student rapport.

SKILLS
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to make sound judgments and identify solutions. Ability to demonstrate consistent use of proper English, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast, multitasking environment.
