Job Description
The University of Tennessee, Office of Information Technology Applications group is seeking to hire an IT Analyst III to support the Information Management and Analytics team.

As an IT Analyst III, you will be a key member in supporting the University's Banner/ODS and IDS (Institutional Data Set) applications. You will work independently and as part of a team on one or more projects, as directed, to achieve the organization's objectives and to provide exceptional support to our customers at the University. You will be expected to contribute technically to the analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and documentation of complex software solutions. As a member of this team, you may also be involved with the administration of some tools/systems. This position will report to the OIT Manager, Information Management and Analytics. This position is currently working on a hybrid work schedule (subject to change).


Responsibilities
  • Assists and/or leads analysis and helps with problem solving efforts.
  • Create new and modify existing database objects, analyze queries and perform tuning.
  • Create packages, stored procedures, tables views, etc. to extract, transfer and load data into the campus data warehouse, SAS, and data marts from Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Design/Develop new programs/subsystems as directed by management within the parameters of UT standards and OIT group standards. This can include but is not limited to views, tables, programs, systems, data bases, security and complex sql code.
  • Use PowerBI, Argos, SAS Visual Analytics or other reporting tools to modify existing and create new dashboards and reports.
  • Assists in setting direction for the growth and maintenance of the campus data warehouse.
  • Assists with developing procedures for loading data from enterprise systems into the campus data warehouse.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to other staff members in group, department, and campus user community.
  • Work with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle):
    • Write queries and scripts as needed.
    • Work with internal partners, providing assistance as needed.
    • Participate in upgrade/migration projects as needed.
    • Work directly with DBAs as needed to troubleshoot database/script/connectivity issues.
  • Develop and implement changes and/or maintenance to existing systems/reports supported by my team.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Three years of application development, SQL, or PL/SQL experience
  • Significant Relational Database experience
  • Strong skills in Data Analysis, Database Design, writing complex SQL, and query performance tuning
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, Tabular Editor, and DAX Studio
  • Proficiency with the Power BI Service, including workspace management, dataset scheduling, dataflows & datasets, and sharing reports with stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, within a team, and/or as an effective team lead to achieve results and meet deadlines
  • Ability to apply effective oral and written skills to communicate with users and technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle 12c or higher
  • Experience with PL/SQL and/or SQL Developer and/or TOAD
  • Experience with formal Source control
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner/ODS
  • Experience with Evisions Argos report development tool
  • Experience working in a Higher Education environment

Work Location This position is at the UT Knoxville campus. This is currently a hybrid job with one day a week of working at the office. Fully remote would be considered for the candidate with the most desirable skill set.

Compensation and Benefits
  • The position is a MR14: $72,390.56 - $101,346.78

About The Department

IM&A manages and maintains the data warehouse - Institutional Data Set (IDS). This includes daily data loads from Banner, Slate, DASH, and other data sources. We create and maintain college-level data marts in SQL Server, 14th Day and End of Term Data Freezes for IRSA, and we are responsible for "point-in-time" reporting, such as First Day of Classes, 14th day, Grades, End-of-Term, THEC reporting and staging tables, ad hoc reporting as requested by our campus partners, and dashboards (HR, GR Blueprint, EM). We administer and maintain Evisions software and servers: MAPS/Argos/IntelleCheck/FormFusion and SAS Visual Analytics environment (end user facing) including associated security (in Active Directory). IM&A administers and maintains the Data Cookbook. We also are responsible for several processes and data loads in SQL Server, including the student data load for Gallagher Security.
