Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Serves as the service technician for on-campus housing. Performs general maintenance work including detection and correction of mechanical failures. Assists with emergency, corrective and/or preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Performs various resident maintenance work including, but not limited to plumbing, appliance, HVAC, electrical and/or carpentry
2. Performs basic routine electrical repairs such as wiring, fuses, fixtures, sockets, and repair and/or install HVAC systems
3. Performs routine plumbing repairs such as repair or replacement of water heaters, clearing drain lines, replacing broken piping, washers, gaskets, faucets, toilets
4. Assists in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors
5. Notifies leadership of any usual occurrences, potential safety hazards and/or damage
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
EPA certification in class l, ll, and lll type equipment or ability to obtain EPA universal refrigerant certification within six (6) months of hire date
Required Experience
Five (5) years related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Previous experience operating heavy machinery and electrical equipment, including aerial lifts and ladders
University housing maintenance experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to operate diagnostic software
Able to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment following technical manuals and diagnostic procedures
Able to build upon existing knowledge in technical application of maintenance work
Able to work an on-call schedule and serve in on-call rotation
Able to understand and comply with building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, plumbing codes and other technical standards and specifications is required
Able to adapt to changing work environments
Able to work in high places as necessary
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of EPA Refrigeration Certification and all aspects of HVAC Maintenance
Knowledge of basic hand tools and power tools
Knowledge of appropriate safety standards and precautions
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Basic understanding of computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
