College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
This position performs responsible administrative and secretarial duties of a complex and confidential nature in support of a Vice President, the Provost, or Dean to relieve supervisor of varied clerical and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serve as primary point of contact for the Vice President or Dean's office; greet visitors and screen calls and mail. Compose routine correspondence, format and type documents, proofread and edit draft material, determine priority of incoming material and route to appropriate personnel.
May plan; organize the work of other office support personnel, including Office Specialist, Office Associates, or Office Assistants.
May coordinate special events in support of Vice President or Dean.
Maintain supervisor's calendar, schedule meetings, and make travel arrangements, process travel reimbursements, and other forms incidental to these responsibilities.
Coordinate and collect materials for faculty appointments from Department chairs, prepares letter of offer to regular faculty, letters of reappointment or non-reappointment to faculty and coordinates with the Office of Faculty Affairs to secure Provost and Presidential approvals. Also, notifies Faculty Affairs, Provost and President of faculty resignations, change and other actions.
Coordinates and collects materials for clinical faculty appointments from Department Chairs, prepares letters of offer and appointment papers and submits for Provost and Presidential approval.
Generates various faculty and/or staff lists and statistical data throughout the academic year.
Maintain complex administrative, fiscal and/or academic records.
Maintains office supplies and equipment inventory. Makes decisions on purchasing supplies at a value that does not exceed $200 per item and $500 per purchase and gathers and compiles information in support of recommendations for equipment purchases.
May monitor simple departmental budget, handle general bookkeeping duties and reconcile accounts. Gather fiscal data and submit to appropriate person to support development of the departmental budget or grant proposals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of progressively responsible administrative support experience; or a high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and eight years of directly applicable experience.

Salary Minimum: $18.85/hour - $23.56
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
