Job Summary

The Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah seeks a highly motivated research associate to join its staff. This individual will work both independently and assist researchers in the field of data science, information technology, informatics, and advanced analytics to transform, analyze, and interpret healthcare data from multiple environments across the nation and evaluate or create new data analysis and data management tools. This work includes developing technologies and existing alternatives. This position will work closely with the VA Informatics and Computing Infrastructure resource center at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 6-8 years of related experience in the field or related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

Designs, develops and implements the most valuable solutions for the organization.
Prepares big data, implements data models and develops database and web applications to support the solutions.

Problem Solving:

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance; the ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner. Basic understanding of statistical analysis. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department

Work Schedule Summary: Employees must reside in the state of Utah but might have the opportunity to work a hybrid (in-office and remote) work schedule. Possible consideration of a request for a fully remote work schedule, subject to approval and change.
