Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Advancement plays a pivotal leadership role in the planning, implementation, and management of a comprehensive advancement strategy to support the mission and goals of Volunteer State Community College. This individual is responsible for securing major and transformational gifts, cultivating and stewarding key donor relationships, and supporting the Vice President for Advancement in driving fundraising success. The Senior Director will also serve as a critical leader, stepping in for the Vice President as needed in meetings, leadership functions, and strategic planning. This position will lead and facilitate special events and alumni engagement efforts.
Job Duties
Develop and execute strategic plans to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals, focusing on major gifts, planned giving, and donor engagement. Supervise staff, assigns projects, monitors and evaluates performance, and provides training. Cultivate and solicit major donors and prospects, fostering lasting relationships that lead to significant philanthropic support. Partner with leadership, faculty, and board members to identify and engage potential donors. Collaborate with advancement staff to coordinate Alumni engagement, fundraising campaigns, events, and communications. Facilitate management for Vol State Giving Day and other major events including sponsors, cultivating relationships post event. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Vice President for Advancement, contributing to the overall vision and direction of the advancement team. Represent the Vice President in internal and external meetings, as well as high-level engagements with donors, partners, and institutional leadership, when necessary. Monitor and analyze fundraising metrics to ensure goals are being met and strategies are effective. Ensure all donor information is accurately tracked and reported using the advancement Raisers Edge NXT system. Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of institutional priorities, programs, and goals. Attend college events, board meetings, and community functions as a visible representative of the Advancement Office. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on fundraising progress to college leadership and the foundation board. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Four (4) years of related experience which may include nonprofit fundraising, event planning, managing volunteers, cultivating and obtaining sponsorships for events and relationships with donors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree.
Experience in Higher Education Advancement and Alumni or equivalent experience in fundraising.
Experience with Raisers Edge NXT.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.
Must have strong leadership, human relations, and communications skills, including effective public speaking skills.
Excellent computer and analytic skills.
Demonstrated problem solving, fiscal, and time management skills.
Demonstrated experience in building and managing donor relationships, with a strong understanding of strategic fundraising.
Experience in budget management and strategic planning.
Ability to give and accept supervision.
Ability to evaluate situations, solve problems and make decisions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relations with students, faculty, staff, administration, volunteers and members of the community (to represent the college well under all circumstances).
Pay Rate: $68,434 - $85,542 annual salary depending on experience
