Lab Specialist

Job Summary

Performs advanced laboratory techniques and procedures in a research laboratory. May provide veterinary technical support for animal model studies.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:1) Performing biochemistry, molecular biology, or other experiments to achieve project goals;2) Assisting in experimental design and troubleshooting;3) Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of all experiments and laboratory activities;4) Communicating all results with the PI and the lab;5) Coordinating efforts with other project team members, including assisting and supporting other members with their experiments. Other responsibilities will be assigned as the needs of the projects evolve.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or other scientific discipline or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); two years full-time laboratory experience; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Working knowledge of advanced scientific techniques and procedures as well as the ability to make statistical calculations, analyze results, prepare reports and perform specialized tests also required.

Preferences
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in appropriate scientific discipline with four or more years of laboratory experience, or Master'sdegree with two or more years of experience.
