Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology and Communication at the University of Idaho seeks applications for two faculty positions in Psychology. Both positions are tenure-track with an open rank for appointment of Assistant, Associate, or Full professor (rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws). Positions are anticipated to begin in August 2026. Potential for summer contract, to be negotiated annually with the Department Chair/Dean.
These positions will conduct research with the expectation federal funding will be sought and secured, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Psychology, and provide outreach and service. The positions may support the masters program in human factors psychology and are expected to mentor students and teach courses in the doctoral program in experimental psychology.
Areas of expertise within health psychology (broadly defined), addictions, or psychology of health are desired. Areas of expertise should have high potential for future federal funding. They may be unique but also complement existing areas of expertise within the department. Candidates must be able to teach courses serving the psychology majors at the undergraduate level.
Candidates must have a record of securing funding from the National Institutes of Health, are expected to show a strong potential for excellence in research and must have a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline by appointment start date.

Required Qualifications:
- PhD in psychology or related discipline
- Have been awarded funding from National Institutes of Health
- Experience conducting externally funded research
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses
- Experience publishing research finding in area of expertise
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in seeking external federal funding at various levels
- Experience leading teams (other researchers or students) in a research setting
- Experience mentoring graduate students
- Excellent communication skills
