SAIL Program Coordinator

Job Description
The SAIL Program Coordinator is a full-time position at the University of Tennessee Skyhawks Achieving in Life (SAIL) Program, the Department of Educational Studies, and College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences. The SAIL Program is a 3-year grant-funded post-secondary training program for individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders that can be renewed at the end of every grant cycle. Continuation of employment is dependent upon grant funding.


Responsibilities
Facilitate daily operations of Program
Supervise designated staff, graduate assistants, and student workers
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual Program-related reports
Create/edit application and accompanying release forms, student handbook, procedural documentation, other paperwork as needed
Create/edit brochures (shared duty)
Recruit mentors (shared duty)
Recruit students for SAIL Program
Create and manage multiple layers of scheduling (SAIL students, mentors, administrative)
Distribute info to area schools, area Special Education directors, other service providers
Participate in assessment of students each semester (academic, self-determination, course evaluations, goal setting, reflecting on semester)
Coordinate and execute various research activities (e.g., Program Evaluation)
Create, implement, and manage modifications to coursework
Work with other student services on campus to implement accommodations for SAIL students
Coordinate mentor/SAIL student connections
Assist students in locating and traveling to courses throughout campus (as needed)
Assist student in locating and navigating to internships (as needed)
Plan and assist students with extracurricular activities (as needed)
Coordinate with various undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty - collaborate and communicate on projects
Communicate with investigators and staff regarding daily operations, research, and other important information through email, telephone, and documents.
Communicate with students: daily updates, problem-solve, and goal setting
Communicate with instructors: progress reports, request exams to modify, problem-solve
Communicate with parents: problem solve, schedule parent meetings, answer emails, answer questions
Communicate with parents through email, documents sent home, schedule meetings
Communicate with faculty: independent study students, course syllabi development, student issues, problem solve
Develop, plan, and organize student and parent events
Write/revise publications related to SAIL marketing
Disseminate research findings via presentations, lectures, publications, etc.
Represent the Program at local, state, regional, national conferences and participate in scholarly work (i.e., presentations, panels, lectures)
Collaborate with professionals in the field of Postsecondary education
Meet with interested local schools, clubs, students to recruit students and disseminate information
Serve as representative for Program and university on various community boards, panels, committees
Teach undergraduate courses, independent studies on various topics in education, disability, counseling, etc.
Liaison with internship sites: contact, inquire, visit, provide with information, train staff if needed, provide support as needed
Serve as Vocational Rehabilitation Community Service Provider, providing Job Placement and Job Coaching services to Program graduates
Document student progress with emails from supervisor, site visits, pictures, videos, etc.
Create relevant instructional content to distribute to faculty and staff, workplaces, students
Deliver trainings to on-campus and off-campus groups about Program and population Serve as site supervisor for undergraduate practicum students, interns, student organizations


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience
Experience in a special education, vocational rehabilitation, helping or management filed
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent skills using computers and software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Must have the ability to coordinate events.
Must have ability the to create and deliver training.
Must have the ability to learn new computer software applications.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Ability to work with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
