Student Business Services
The primary responsibility of Financial Services is to ensure the proper stewardship of the University's financial resources. Toward this end, we strive to provide valuable, timely, and meaningful financial information to University administrators to allow informed decision making in pursuit of overall institutional goals. We must ensure sound and efficient financial practices and services to the University community and must service our customers in an ethical, professional, and courteous manner. Our goal is to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of our customers - University students, administrators, faculty, staff and representatives from other state agencies. Position Information
Hiring Department: Student Business Services
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends (seasonal).
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
Summary:
To provide skills in the receipt, disbursement and recording of funds for Student and University accounts and provide excellent service to the University community. Responsible for answering questions and researching issues concerning policies, procedures and for receiving, disbursing and properly crediting funds to student and University accounts.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. All staff who drive on Official University Business must observe all applicable laws and have a valid driver's license issued in the state where they permanently reside that is not currently suspended or revoked. Any driver who operates a Vehicle for Official University Business at a time when his or her license was suspended or revoked, shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal as applicable as defined in the UT System UTS 157.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides service and information to customers regarding student, staff, and departmental accounts.
Researches and assists in resolving issues, inquiries and problems with accounts.
Prepares cashier window for opening; secures cash and checks; disburses refund checks.
Receives cash, checks and credit card payments. Prepares payment receipts. Credits payments to proper accounts.
Processes deposits for University departments and organizations.
Closes cashier window; balances cash drawer, prepares currency and coins; endorses checks; completes deposit slips.
Processes and files forms for student.
Prepares and routes accounting documents.
Prepares reports and correspondence.
Verifies accuracy of work, account reconciliations, and processing of vouchers.
Accurate recordkeeping of timekeeping and vouchers processed.
Verifies and calculates credits on accounts; assists with refunding processing when needed
Complies with all State and University policies.
Recommends process and workflow improvements.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree from an accredited institution or two years of college in a business related field. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
and
Experience: Two years of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Similar experience in higher education.
