Position Information

Hiring Department: COHS

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.

Purpose of Position

The Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Support provides leadership in advising, curriculum, scheduling, enrollment and retention, student affairs, and recruitment within the Dean's Office. The role includes supervising advising staff, coordinating with academic units and campus offices, and managing special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Leads advising efforts, including final graduation verification, transfer equivalencies, substitutions, and degree evaluation corrections.


  • Guides departments through the curriculum change process and coordinates with the Provost's Office and CHS Curriculum Committee.


  • Manages scheduling by communicating timelines, reviewing department schedules, and submitting changes to the registrar.


  • Oversees enrollment and retention strategies, including data analysis, outreach coordination, and tracking trends over time.


  • Handles student affairs such as scholarships, awards, student concerns, financial aid referrals, and liaison duties with CHS committees.


  • Supports recruitment through data analysis, identifying roadblocks, implementing surveys, and evaluating student satisfaction.


  • Supervises CHS Student Support Center advising staff and compliance coordinator.


  • Leads special Dean's Office projects as assigned.


  • Complies with all State and University policies.


  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for day-to-day operations for the student support center

Required Qualifications:

Education: Master's degree

and

Experience: 5 Years experience in relevant managerial and organizational positions.
