Job Description
The University of Tennessee Southern enthusiastically invites applications for the position of Assessment Coordinator and Instructor (Non Tenure-Track) in the Grace G. Grissom School of Education. Reporting to the Chair of the School of Education, this person will teach courses, advise and mentor students, and provide service to the university and community. We seek an individual with expertise in state and CAEP Accreditation and data analysis in the School of Education. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching Special Education and/or Secondary Education courses. This is a full-time, in-person position beginning in August 2025.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the School of Education Assessment Coordinator;
- Teach courses determined by the School Chair;
- Engage in scholarship appropriate to the disciplines in the School of Education;
- Provide meaningful service to the university and surrounding community;
- Mentor and advise students;
- Teach across the curriculum at the undergraduate level.
- Work with diverse populations.
- Demonstrate commitment to integrating equity and inclusion into teaching and activities.
- Mentor or support students from underrepresented groups, or a demonstrated ability to employ culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.
- Teach on-ground, hybrid or online courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
- Serve on committees as necessary.
- Meet weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the department through recruiting activities.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Special Education, Secondary Education, or a closely related field (degree must be completed by August 1, 2025). Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred.
- Experience with State & CAEP Accreditation
- Experience with data analysis in Higher Education
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the college level.
- Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activities.
- Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented students.
- A background search will be required of the successful applicant.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mastery of data analysis and reporting. Ability to use data analysis software.
- Be available and knowledgeable and demonstrate proficiency in the practice of academic advisement of students.
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development and growth by being suitably active in professional and community service.
- Exhibit motivation and initiative in keeping up-to-date and current in one's curriculum area by reading/reviewing current scholarly or creative works in their field and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and development activities sponsored by the University.
- Serve effectively on committees and other appropriate functions that assist in University governance.
Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000
