Job Summary

The Environmental Center invites you to apply for the Temporary Energy and Climate Justice Assistant role! We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to plan and support energy and climate justice campaigns on campus. In this role, you will build and communicate educational campaigns with a focus on behavior change, design and facilitate workshops, and capture feedback from participating parties. Collaboration with on-campus and off-campus partners will be key to ensuring the success of these initiatives. You should have a proven understanding of policy and advocacy work, content design experience, and community organizing skills preferred. Data analysis skills are a plus. Additionally, you will support student staff each semester to ensure smooth program and content creation for campaign efforts. This includes supporting the team in setting up systems that build on previous work, empowering student teams to co-create campaigns, and ensuring the continuity and growth of ongoing projects. The Environmental Center leads locally and globally by providing direct services and expertise to our campus community and beyond. Services are provided in the areas of zero waste, sustainable transportation, renewable energy programs, sustainability training, educational events and more. Founded in 1970 by students, the Environmental Center is the nation's longest-standing, largest and most accomplished student-led center of its kind. Recognizing that diversity and social justice initiatives are key components of sustainability, the Environmental Center strives for diversity, inclusivity and social justice in our staff, all programs, activities and outcomes.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Planning and implementing climate justice initiatives and coordinating efforts for Spring 2026.
  • Supporting energy and climate campaign efforts in Residence Halls and Graduate and Family Housing.
  • Supporting student staff with energy and climate justice efforts.


What You Should Know

  • This temporary position will likely last 40 weeks.
  • This is a part time hybrid role working 20 hours a week.


What We Can Offer

  • The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.


Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Studies, Media and Communications, or similar.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
