Position Information
Hiring Department: Athletics
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt

Salary: $76,500.

Purpose of Position
Summary: Oversee all procedures and systems necessary for the Department of Athletics to comply with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations for 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and ensures the department's efforts comply with NCAA, CUSA and University rules and regulations
Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
Serve as a sport administrator
Develop and maintain detailed compliance policies for UTEP athletics
Oversee documentation on 2 and 4-year transfers and manage transfer portal processes and information
Oversee all athletic financial aid and preparation of NCAA Squad lists
Coordinate and monitor eligibility of initial enrollees through the NCAA Eligibility Center
Oversee the professional sports education and athlete agent program
Serve as the point of contact for alleged NCAA violations and coordinate the self-reporting of such violations
Oversee, manage, and support student-athletes in their pursuit of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities by monitoring NIL
activity reporting and data management
Interfaces with the Athletic Director and Faculty Athletic Representative to clarify interpretations and report any activity which might be construed as a violation of rules and regulations and assist with related investigations as required
Conduct research for and assist University's General Counsel as needed
Oversee and monitor sport camps and clinics
Evaluate selected staff performance and provide leadership and guidance to the staff
Oversee compliance staff and daily operations of the compliance office including:
- Research and dissemination of CUSA and NCAA rules interpretations
- Overall coordination of compliance with all recruiting and financial aid rules
- Monitor recruiting activity for all sports
- Oversee rules education to athletics department administrators, staff, coaches, boosters and student-athletes, including disseminating new legislation information and manage social media presence
- Serve as a liaison to the CUSA and NCAA to stay abreast of new or changed rules annually
- Interpret rules and regulations and communicate with the CUSA and NCAA regarding these situations
- Monitor countable athletic related activities, playing and practice seasons and team schedules
- Oversee playing and practice season and coaching staff CARA submissions to ensure proper compliance with bylaw 17
Complies with all State and University policies.
