Monmouth University is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach/Director of Player Development in the Athletics department.
The candidate would be expected to oversee player development and be directly responsible for the hitters or the pitcher staff. The hitting position candidate would be expected to coordinate a hitting program that would include but would not be limited to developing, implementing and recommending game day modifications as well as game planning; conduct a year-round training program for hitters; coach a designated defensive position.
The pitching position candidate would be expected to: coach and lead pitching staff. Develop, implement and enhance daily training programs for pitchers; utilize available technologies for player development.
Also, the candidate will work in conjunction with training staff to oversee strength and conditioning as well as arm care.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach and lead Pitching Staff or Hitters.
- Serve as the Director of Player Development and oversee the entire year-round training process; serve as the direct supervisor of skill development – this process will include creation of a written year-round plan for pitchers, creation of off-season conditioning, and placing athletes in appropriate summer baseball leagues.
- Oversee NCAA compliance with student-athletes – performed daily.
- Oversee the academic development of baseball student-athletes and monitor academic progress of student athletes – performed daily throughout the academic year.
- Perform all customary NCAA Division I recruiting practices, including off-campus evaluations, phone calls, and on-campus visits, to be performed year-round in conjunction with the NCAA recruiting calendar.
- Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures governing the Department of Athletics and the University and any applicable rules and regulations associated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) or any other conference or organization with which the University is or becomes associated with which affects University Athletics.
- Coordinate Alumni Baseball Game.
- Coordinate and be directly responsible for all programing, planning and implementation involving “First Pitch Dinner”.
- Coordinate community service programs for the baseball team.
- Assist with summer high school camp and lead winter youth clinics.
- Assist with team travel.
- Prepare scouting reports on opponents.
- Represent University and baseball program at professional meetings, alumni events as well as other meetings/functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Baseball playing and coaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Availability to work flexible hours, especially late nights and a flexible summer schedule.
- CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be attained within six months from date of hire.
- A valid driver's license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years. University Policy found here: Monmouth University Vehicle Use Policy.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Must have an understanding of the University's concern for academics as well as athletic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Division I level playing and college coaching experience
- Proficiency in coaching college pitchers or college hitters
- NCAA recruiting experience
- Knowledge of Synergy, Rapsodo, Trackman and 643
