The Buston lab at Boston University is a marine evolutionary ecology lab that uses intensive long-term marine field work to answer questions in the areas of behavioral ecology and population ecology. We seek a highly motivated individual to join the lab as a full-time Research Technician to assist in various field research projects. This position is necessary to fully perform the PIs funded research and will assist the PI and lab group as he transitions into the position of Associate Dean of the Faculty, Natural Sciences.

  • Collect data in the field and lab including working with clownfish in the field and in the lab.
  • Assisting Ph.D. students with field projects involving scientific diving.
  • Contribute to smooth running of field operations, including field prep. and field clean-up.
  • Assisting Ph.D. students with data extraction from photos, e.g., egg counts and anemone areas.
  • Assisting Ph.D. students with data entry, data management, and data quality control.
  • Adherence to lab safety, bio safety, chem safety, and dive safety guidelines.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new situations This is a 9-month appointment.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in Biology or Marine Science with AAUS Scientific Diving certification.
