Job Description:

Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) at Manhattanville University seeks a full-time Registered Nurse to practice ten months per year (approximately 37 weeks/year), full-time (35 hr/wk) in a university-based outpatient setting. This position is located in Health Services within Student Health and Counseling Services and reports to the Associate Director of SHAC- Health Services and Dean of Student Health and Wellbeing.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assess the health needs of students, provide immediate and follow-up care as needed

  • Knowledge of NYS immunization requirements

  • Knowledge, understanding and compliance with HIPAA/FERPA

  • Maintain ethical standards and code of conduct

  • Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care.

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of medical history, physical examinations

  • Documentation: progress notes, intake/discharge summaries, documentation of important findings/diagnoses/assessments, psychosocial history

  • Complete necessary paperwork and reports, filing, and organizing reports accurately and in a timely manner

  • Monitor, record and report assessment findings (symptoms and changes in health status) and interventions

  • Communicate findings in your assessment to students and designated providers (HIPAA/FERPA compliance)

  • Participate in the collection and recording of student health documents that qualify with NYS as immunization and assessment compliant

  • Assist with answering phones, scheduling, and triaging

  • Perform additional office support duties as assigned

  • Coordinate with the Student Health and Counseling team and other staff/faculty as necessary and appropriate.

  • Develop therapeutic relationships with students, college staff/faculty, and referral sources in the community.

  • Maintain a positive, compassionate bedside manner

  • Assist with GYN exams

  • Perform point of care tests including: blood samples, COVID/Strep/Flu testing, fingersticks, Urine Hcg, EKG's,etc.

  • Attend and participate in meetings, student education sessions, special events, orientations, etc. as needed (evenings and weekends may be included)

  • Provide teaching in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention, maintenance, and management of acute/chronic diseases and participate in regular health events to contribute to the wellbeing of the student body

  • Report for regular office hours and when necessary, work beyond business hours to meet program or staffing needs, as needed.

    Qualifications:
    • Active and clear licensing in NYS
    • Degree from accredited program
    • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Able to use AED
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

    Education: Associates Degree or higher

    Experience:

    Minimum of 2 yrs experience as a Registered Nurse (LPN with extensive experience may be considered).

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, lifting, climbing stairs, moderate physical effort, lifting and maneuvering patients, occasionally must reach above head and carry medium weight equipment

    Salary:

    The annual salary for this position is $60,225.

    Hours Expectation:

    Full-time, 35 hours per week, 10 months
