A. POSITION PURPOSE

Play a principal role in supporting, building, managing and planning SCU's core reporting applications and new technology.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical leadership and expertise in the SCU BI and Analytics ecosystem.
  • Design and maintenance of Lakehouse and Prism environments for all functional areas.
    • Identify requirements, design data process flow, prepare, and acquire external data sources.
    • Create data pipelines that blend and transform data.
    • Help identify, establish, configure and maintain security for Prism data sources.
    • Publish, report, and maintain Prism and Lakehouse data.
  • Design, Development, Deployment and Maintenance of physical databases, dimensional data models, OLAP cubes, ETL layer design and data integration strategies
  • Data Audit, Conversion Build, Formatting and processing for reporting needs, data corrections, mass data updates into various areas of Workday system.
  • Design and development of custom data structures for SCU specific requirements to track Employee or Financial information, including requirements gathering from end users, design of system, development and testing of business process, reporting and integrations.
  • Redesign and troubleshoot system configurations per end user requirements, following implementation procedures, including testing and deployment
  • Provide expertise in Workday domain that may include but is not limited to:
    • Business processes and custom report development, including BIRT
    • Data conversion
    • Holistic view of Workday system as a whole, and ability to identify impact of changes beyond discrete functional areas
    • Help establish a well controlled systems environment by defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
    • Collaborate with the Workday Community in order to resolve issues and proactively remain informed about enhancements
    • Identify opportunities for system improvement
  • Provide analysis, system changes, and organizational skills to solve various technical problems that may be outside the scope of other EA staff expertise
  • Help technically to expand and/or connect Enterprise Applications functionality with other technical services provided by IT


2. Provide project leadership

  • Lead teams of EA and functional office staff on focused projects to deliver new and/or improved services. In the process, engage key stakeholders, value different technical/functional approaches and possible solutions, explain criteria for decision-making and identify best choices, and help define and ensure successful testing and timely delivery.
  • Gather requirements, design, develop, deploy and maintain system modules, troubleshooting user issues and coordinating with multiple end user offices for cross functional projects.
  • Smoke test existing configurations, performance tune and explore new features and functionality during biannual feature release. Simplify existing system complexities and streamline processes for better system usage and user experience..
  • Work independently on projects not requiring a team approach


3. Mentor other EA staff in Lakehouse, BI and Reporting technology

  • Work with EA staff on improving their skills in specific areas. This may take the form of 1-on-1 tutoring or presentations to groups of EA staff
  • Conduct "walkthroughs" and best practices for proposed analysis or configuration modifications, and points out useful resources for further study
  • Identify areas for growth, provide insights and share helpful feedback, and provide tips for building professional networks.
  • Work with management to research, recommend, and implement training programs
  • Develop documentation on typical functions, processes, configurations used within BI and Analytics ecosystem.


4. Provide Support for legacy systems

  • Troubleshoot complex ETL mapping errors and issues
  • Create and maintain user accounts and security objects
  • Develop access controls and role-based security
  • Support and maintain PeopleSoft MSSQL databases.
  • Provide administration and support for Windows servers.
  • Monitor system performance and adjust for optimized performance.
  • Implement hardware and software upgrades.
  • Perform hardware and software problem analysis and maintenance.


5. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Learn new skills through Workday Community, HEDW and Rising conferences, and other educational opportunities
  • Special projects, as assigned

D. QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience required or preferred.

1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Workday reporting tools, including Calculated Fields, PRISM, and Standard, Custom, Composite, Matrix, BIRT and XPresso reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PeopleSoft tools and architecture, including Application Engine, SQR, and PeopleTools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Lakehouse and Warehouse concepts, including ETL, star schema, and normalized and denormalized data structures..
  • Thorough knowledge of systems analysis tools and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data extraction and processing tools including SQL, Python, XML and JSON formatting.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously to drive timely results
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills


Education
  • BA/BS required. Graduate education is preferred.
  • Workday Pro Reporting or Prism Certification preferred.


Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in ERP support or software development lifecycle.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing technical support for Workday Prism or similar warehouse environment, including reporting, integrations, security, business processes, and configuration management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in database administration, preferably in a PeopleSoft environment
