Job Summary
The position of Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Nursing is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in the School of Nursing within the College of Education and Health Professions. The start date for this position is January 2026.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Teaching undergraduate medical-surgical nursing courses, face-to-face and online; mentoring students; working collaboratively with area clinical and hospital staff; performing service and administrative tasks necessary to ensure excellence in nursing education at Columbus State University; and participating in scholarly activity. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work in continuous improvement of nursing education, demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.
The School of Nursing at Columbus State University enrolls a diverse body of over 800 students. It offers a traditional BSN for students seeking an RN license and three online degree programs: an RN-BSN for licensed RNs with an Associate degree; a Master's of Science in Nursing (education, leadership, and information tracks); and a Master's of Science in Nursing in Family Nurse Practitioner. International opportunities are available with study abroad in Ireland, and other student service learning trips are currently in development. Students maintain a high pass rate on licensing/certification exams, and the BSN program is ranked nationally in the top 100 Best Affordable Nursing Degrees.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: A Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university is required. The successful candidate must possess at least three years of quality nursing experience in a medical-surgical or specialty environment; be licensed or eligible for RN licensure in Georgia; have experience with college level teaching in nursing and working with diverse populations; and possess an understanding of technology as a tool for effective teaching. Additionally, the candidate must have the knowledge and ability to engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning. To be eligible for a tenure-track position, the candidate must also have a record of successful scholarship, including research and publication, or strong evidence of potential.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications include: Preference will be given to candidates who have an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field; evidence of successful teaching at the college level in both traditional and online environments; experience with simulation labs; previous leadership experience in the academic and/or clinical environment; and knowledge/experience with CCNE accreditation.

Conditions of Employment
