THIS GRANT-FUNDED POSITION IS FUNDED UNTIL JUNE 30, 2029

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Director of Rural Health serves as the day-to-day and collaborative strategic leader for the state-wide Tennessee Rural Health Center of Excellence. This position oversees the implementation, coordination, and continuation of identified key initiatives and projects for the Center and the Cores. This position will be required to design systems and processes to provide efficient operations. This position will be key in assisting in developing statewide connections and relationships.


Responsibilities
  1. Plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, reviews, and performs the identified work of the Center as identified in the grant.
  2. Develops key partnerships across the State of Tennessee and within the Rural Health space.
  3. Provides leadership in collaboration with the Center's leadership team and the communication and marketing staff to develop marketing materials and communications for distribution.
  4. Assists with the development of a strategic marketing and communication plan and its implementation.
  5. Creates, monitors, and facilitates the review process and all aspects pre- and post-award in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Projects.
  6. Trains project staff in specific grant protocol activities and interventions.
  7. Manages orientation of new employees for departmental and university policy and procedures.
  8. Approves requests for annual leave, sick leave, and any other approved time away from work; monitors attendance, leave balances, and timesheets of employees.
  9. Facilitates the creation of the request for proposal (RFP) for awarding external grants.
  10. Leads the development of rural health learning materials and any conferences/workshops.
  11. Leads the process needed to perform community gaps assessments and implementation of the APGAR rural assessments.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in managing complex grants with community outreach aspects; OR a Master's Degree and one (1) year of experience in managing complex grants with community outreach aspects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to be extremely effective independently.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide and implement successful solutions.
  • Ability to develop successful teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
