Student Support Coordinator

The Student Support Coordinator is a dedicated student-facing professional committed to maintaining a welcoming and supportive campus environment. In this role, the Student Support Coordinator will work closely with students who face challenges affecting their retention, persistence, and graduation. By building strong relationships, the Student Support Coordinator will offer personalized guidance on both academic and non-academic matters, connecting students with the appropriate campus resources to ensure their overall well-being and success.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise student workers as needed

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the advisor/coach to 150+ individual students who are identified as having risk factors to graduation, including students on academic probation, students returning from semester leaves, and students identified by the CARE team.
  • Responds to faculty/staff Early Alerts warnings and provide communication outreach and support.
  • Track all student interactions and follow established action plans for student interventions.
  • Communicate with students, connect them with resources, and provide timely interventions to help students in their academic progress.
  • Assist in the development of an assessment protocol to provide regular data and analysis of student progress and satisfaction with outreach and programmatic efforts. Provide feedback with assessment reporting to Assistant Dean.
  • Assist with the advisement of students participating in the Co-Curricular pathways program. Meet regularly with students and monitor their participation in the pathway.
  • Collaborate with the Student Affairs staff and other University departments in developing programs to develop successful students.

  • Work with the Associate Director of Community Standards in developing and facilitating family workshops to help parents, guardians, and other family members better support their student's educational aspirations and assist in the university transition.

  • Serve as an advisor to students involved in the Title IX process. Attend all title IX training sessions as required.

  • Work with academic advising and other campus partners in trouble shooting areas of concern for first-generation students.

  • Participate in University-wide and divisional functions, including but not limited to divisional planning, open houses, admitted student days, and commencement.

  • Champion thoughtful use of student engagement platforms.

  • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in principles of student development.

  • knowledge of retention issues and practices in higher education.

  • Knowledge of immigration and cultural adjustment preferred.

  • Ability to communicate with our student population.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    Bachelor's required, master's preferred

    Experience:

    Experience in developing and supporting students' success. Understanding of immigration policies and knowledge of the experiences of first-generation students.

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Hours Expectation:

    Full-time, 35 hours per week
