Job Summary
Huntsman Cancer Foundation seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Communications Specialist-Social Media and Micro Content. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the individual hired for this role will assist with a wide range of marketing/communications initiatives and contribute to the creation of dynamic supporting collateral in a variety of content forms, including website, social media, video, etc.
This position will play a key role in planning, creating, scheduling, and monitoring content for HCF's website and social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms as needed. The communications specialist will work to maintain a consistent voice and brand across platforms, recognizing the unique nature of various audiences and the need for style and tone differences. This individual will track engagement analytics and adjust strategies based on performance and current trends

This individual should be passionate about Huntsman Cancer Institute's mission and able to inspire donors to join us in fulfilling that mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic social media calendar for HCF social channels (@huntsmancancerevents, @huntsmansigs, and others) and other digital and print materials as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to create multi-format content, including, but not limited to, website content, blog stories, email marketing, event support, or graphic design for HCF's website and social media channels.
- Engage with followers, respond to messages, and build online community.
- Capture photo and video content, including at Huntsman Cancer Foundation signature events and community partner events as needed.
- Create and curate compelling and flexible donor-centric content by engaging with key stakeholders, including both internal and external audiences.
- Build a consistent and effective social media presence by applying current best practices, tracking emerging trends, and optimizing content for reach and engagement.
- Work closely with the communications team to maintain a consistent tone, voice, and branding across all content and platforms, including adjusting style and tone based on channel and audience.
- Conduct research on cancer-related topics to inform content development and messaging.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing and communications objectives consistent with Huntsman Cancer Foundation's goals.
- Ensure all digital content follows best SEO practices and HCF's style and brand guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
Master's degree in a related field may be preferred.

Essential Skills
- Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to quickly learn additional communications and social media management tools.
- Understanding of social media analytics and platform-specific best practices.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to write/edit according to organizational and industry-standard style guides.
- Experience in graphic design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative stack.
- Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management tools, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Internally motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to perform other duties as deemed necessary.
Preferred
- Experience in a nonprofit fundraising environment.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Social video production and photography knowledge preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of marketing, advertising, and communications experience, with a specific emphasis on social media and digital content creation.
- Good instincts for design and ability to analyze and report on data.
- Interest in nonprofits, healthcare philanthropy, or cancer research.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required Nearly Continuously: Office environment. May require the ability to sit, stand, and walk around for extended periods of time.
Huntsman Cancer Foundation has a hybrid work policy. Based on outside meetings and other work requirements, employees are asked to be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. This is subject to change.Some local/regional travel may be required for larger marketing projects, such as video productions.
