Job Summary
The University of Utah College of Nursing is a community of scholars engaged in exemplary programs of funded research and distinguished scholarship. The Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center's mission is to provide exceptional support services that facilitate faculty success in research and scholarly activity. We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to become a team member on a four-year NIH funded study to develop and implement a digital health intervention to support symptom communication among adolescents and young adults with cancer.
The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will coordinate day-to-day clinical trial activities in adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), study protocols, and applicable regulations. Implement processes and organize efforts within study team to achieve objectives, coordinating research procedures, study visits, and follow-up care. Create and maintain tools and documentation to track study metrics, providing updates to management. Conduct pre-study, site qualification, study initiation, monitoring visits, and close-out activities. Maintain source documents and report adverse events. Recruit, screen, enroll, and obtain consent from study participants. Collect and maintain patient and laboratory data. Work directly with study participants and families and serve as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, and government agencies. Work under the direction of the Primary Investigator (PI). Requires basic research understanding and basic skill set and proficiency. Conduct work assignments as directed. Supervision frequently provided by the PI, with some latitude for independent judgment.
This is a grant-funded position currently funded through May 2027.

Responsibilities
Maintain patient database, study logs, and study documentation.
Coordinate day-to-day project activities, including tracking project requirements, scheduling investigator meetings, participant recruitment and interviewing, and general meeting minutes.
Assist in developing participant recruitment strategies and evaluation of the success of these strategies.
Interview and consent potential study participants. Manage participant payments.
Conduct on-site participant recruitment and data collection at Primary Children's Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Support study-related education with the clinical site.
Assist in the development of study protocols, managing human subject requirements, including IRB paperwork and procedures (new proposals, amendments, continuing reviews).
Represent the research program at meetings.
Purchase equipment, supplies, and arrange travel for personnel as assigned.
Support financial oversight of the project and reporting to the sponsor.
Liaison with central university research offices such as Institutional Review Board.
Prioritize workload with minimal supervision to manage competing deadlines.
Must be able to work as an integral team member.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a health sciences or related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) with two years professional research experience and completion of University RATS Clinical Certification within one year of hire required. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.
Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified timeframe.
Departments may prefer a nursing degree for this position, which requires the incumbent to have two years related experience and possess a nationally recognized research compliance certification.

Preferences
Preferred but NOT required:Master's degree in nursing, public health, social work, psychology, or other health-related field.Experience with protocol development, participant interviewing, survey implementation, research involving children and families.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)Experience working in a clinical setting.Fluent in Spanish
