Position Description
Manages a section in a department that has institutional oversight. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the section. Represents the section to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions

Develop, implement, and oversee occupational safety and health programs to promote safe working conditions and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Coordinate incident investigations and responses to safety complaints.
Serves as the University liaison with outside agencies concerning occupational safety and health issues and during regulatory inspections as needed.
Provides occupational safety and health consultation, guidance, and training to University students, faculty, and staff.
Develop metrics to track the effectiveness of safety programs and develop strategies to improve program performance.
Conduct indoor air quality assessments and perform duties as a licensed Mold Assessment Consultant licensed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in support of mold assessment and remediation activities for the University.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and best practices.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required plus four years supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety and Health Manager, or Certified Industrial Hygienist. OSHA 30 Hour certification.
